According to the current norms (RD99/2011) the thesis must be completed within a period of three years from the first enrollment date. This period could be extended for an additional year under some circumstances.

Admission process

The applicant should first submit certain documents to be assessed by the Postgraduate Academic Committee of the Department of Mathematics.
The precise instructions and deadlines to complete this process can be found at the following links:

Explicit acceptance of a professor or PhD researcher to act as thesis advisor is considered a fundamental condition for entering the program. We recommend that you use the following form.
If the proposed PhD advisor does not belong to the Department of Mathematics, explicit acceptance of a member of our Department to act as a tutor will be required as well. Once a PhD advisor and a tutor have been proposed, they must be formally approved by the Postgraduate Academic Committee of the Department during the admission process.

The Academic Committee will finally decide about the ADMISSION or NON-ADMISSION of the applicant (who can check the state of his/her application in the SIGMA online management tool).

First enrollment process

Once the applicant has been admitted, he/she must complete the administrative process corresponding to his/her first enrollment.
