SEMINARIO TEORÍA DE NÚMEROS

Title: On certain arithmetic properties of Artin L-values

SPEAKER: Alexandre Maksoud (University of Luxembourg)

DATE: Monday, May 30th - 17:30

PLACE: Aula 520, Departamento de Matemáticas (UAM) and online, Microsoft Teams (código: owfo832)

ABSTRACT: Dirichlet's class number formula classically gives an arithmetic interpretation of the value at s=1 of Dedekind's zeta function. In Iwasawa theory one deduces from a p-adic analogue of the class number formula finer information on the arithmetic of zeta values. In this talk we introduce classical objects from Iwasawa theory and we explain how they conjecturally provide a concrete description of the special values of Artin L-functions. If time permits we also state some unconditional results in the case when the L-function is attached to a weight one classical modular form.
